It would hardly be surprising or impossible because the likes of New Line Cinema and Dimension obtain the best looks for these films. Even if it were VHS, I'm sure the levels would still beat them.
I'd love to see a comparison between the New Line LD, HKL, IVL/Spectrum and possibly the Pioneer LD (because of its reportedly good colours).

It does have moments where there's missing info and slight stretching, but its levels are better than IVL. It's a draw really (IVL = picture info VS HKL = levels).
