Geneon Pinku Eiga DVD Releases Options

Geneon have been releasing loads and loads of films from Nikkatsu's pinku eiga catalogue of movies from the 70ies and 80ies. Listing everything they have released thus far would be a bit too daunting so I'll kick this thread off with their September 21st batch and maybe catch up on some of the past releases in future postings.



This one may be familiar to some people because it was already released on subtitled VHS and, later, DVD by the Dutch label Japan Shock. It's 凌辱めす市場・監禁 / Ryôjoku mesu ichiba kankin / FEMALE MARKET by Kazuo 'Gaira' Komizu.



Katsuhiko Fujii's 団鬼六 蒼いおんな / Dan Oniroku aoi onna from 1982.



新妻地獄 / Niizuma Jigoku / NEW WIFE'S HELL (1975) by Akira Kato and starring Naomi Tani.



ANGEL GUTS: RED PORNO. This one's out in the US from Artsmagic.



セックス・ハンター 濡れた標的 / Sex hunter: nureta hyoteki (1972) by Yukihiro Sawada. According to the JMDB, none other than George Harrison was in this!



Isao Hayashi's 若妻日記・悶える / Wakazuma nikki: modaeru from 1977.



私のSEX白書 絶頂度 / Watashi no sex-hakusho (1976).



ホテル強制わいせつ事件 犯して! / Hotel Kyosei Waisetsu Jiken: Okashite! (1977) by Koretsugu Kurahara.



レイプ25時 暴姦 / Rape! 25-ji bokan / RAPE! 13TH HOUR (1977) by Yasuharu Hasebe. The IMDB has a hysterical summary for this: "A serial rapist takes on a young protégé to his craft as he is pursued by a homosexual gang seeking vengeance for an attack on their leader." That's pretty much why I watch these movies, right there.



主婦の体験レポート おんなの四畳半 / Shufu no taiken report: zoku onna no yo-jo-han (1975) by Kazunari Takeda and starring Junko Miyashita.



東京エロス千夜一夜 / Tokyo eros senya ichiya / Eros Nights in Tokyo (1979) by Shogoro Nishimura.



O秘女郎市場 / Maruhi: joro ichiba / SECRET CHRONICLE: PROSTITUTION MARKET (1972) by Chusei Sone. A subtitled bootleg/fansub exists though it is VHS sourced and about a decade old.



はみ出しスクール水着/ Hamidashi school mizugi (1986) by Yojiro Takita.





蕾の眺め / Tsubomi no nagame (1986) by Noboru Tanaka.



禁断・制服の悶え / Kindan: seifuku no modae (1976) directed by Isao Hayashi and starring Terumi Azuma.

Excellent thread. Keep up the good work. I'm tempted to try the Hasebe film, although this time I don't think I'll find a sub source.

btw, any comments about the movies themself (quality) are welcome, too. With Toei I know pretty much what to expect when I see the director/cast and read some brief description but with Nikkatsu I'm totally lost. I only know a few directors and have seen a handful of movies.

There's a VHS fansub for RAPE! 13TH HOUR. I don't have it but a translation definitely exists.

btw, any comments about the movies themself (quality) are welcome, too.

I haven't seen a lot of them. FEMALE MARKET did nothing for me. It's pretty mean spirited with the most extreme scene having one of the thugs finger a bullet hole in a girl's stomach while he's raping her. It says a lot if not even a scene like this can get me interested in a film. ANGEL GUTS: RED PORNO isn't my favorite of that series by a long shot. I much prefer HIGH-SCHOOL CO-ED and NAMI. SECRET CHRONICLE: PROSTITUTION MARKET is a very good edo pink flick, which mixes some ridiculous comedy with more serious drama. The best scene has a bull tearing through a edo era brothel, driven insane by the geishas' red kimonos. This whole scene is scored with flamenco music. If I can find someone who'll trade me the subtitled version this'll go definitely on my list of films to create subtitle scripts for.

Thanks for those links. Looks like I got my work cut out for myself. I may also post more detailed reviews of the Geneon pinku discs I own on the board reserved for such things.

I hope Geneon don't stop with that series anytime soon. There's still a lot of films I have on VHS that absolutely need a DVD release. And speaking of that, does anyone know if Shin Toho are doing anything at all in the DVD sector? They had their share of amusing flicks as well but I have yet to see any on DVD.

According to the Catalog that´s included with the Geneon Nikkatsu DVDs the last Batch will
be released in December.

If I did identify the covers correctly the December Releases will at least include "Star of David"
aka "Beautiful Girl Hunter" (GNBD-1349) and Yasuharu Hasabe´s
"Sengoku rokku hayate no onnatachi" (GNBD-1338).
In Germany this movie was released as "Die Nackten und die Bestien" (The Naked and the Beasts)

"Wife to be sacrificed" starring Naomi Tani. This DVD should include the "Sadistic and Masochistic"

US-Label "Kino" is also releasing 4 Nikkatsu Roman Porno Movies in November that will include a re-release of Konuma´s
"Wife to be sacrificed" starring Naomi Tani. This DVD should include the "Sadistic and Masochistic"
Documentary about Masaru Konuma directed by Hideo Nakata.

I'll buy these but with the exception of WIFE TO BE SACRIFICED (which will hopefully get a nice anamorphic transfer and optional subtitles this time) I'm scratching my head at these choices of films.

No ít doesn´t. It was just a guess. I also hope they will continue with the Series.
It would be interesting to know if these titles are selling well in Japan.
If so, Geneon will surely continue and release more titles.

That's somewhat reassuring. There's certainly a lot of stuff that's still crying out for a remastered DVD release. We'll know for sure in a couple months' time. The only problem I can see might be that of over-saturating the marketplace by releasing too many films onto DVD too quickly. On the other hand, I know from my own experience that even used, ex-rental VHS tapes of pinku eiga and pinky violence films frequently sell for amounts that exceed the price of a new DVD so there clearly is a very enthusiastic audience for these movies in Japan. I just don't know how big that audience is.

Costs money that they don't think will increase sales. At least not comensurate* with the extra cost. Sadly, they may be right.

If you liked Sex and Fury or any of the Red Peony Gamblers
you'll like this movie. It just has a little extra ummph!
if you know what I mean. It's more story and action than
the typical Roman Porno stuff.

I only checked "Wife to be sacrificed" so far.
Transfer is definitely the new 16x9 Remastered Version.
Subs are removable. Extras include the
"Sadistic and Masochistic" Doku directed by Hideo Nakata
in 4:3 Fullscreen also with removable Subs and the Original Trailer for "Wife"
also with english Subs.

I didn´t check the other 3 Kino releases yet, but according
to the Covers they should all have restored 16x9 transfers.

i've seen 'erotic diary of an office lady' and 'tattoed flower vase', the latter being a fantastic riff on the idea of transformation post-tattoo, with some astonishingly abstract and striking visuals at certain moments... the formers relatively plain, but there's a wonderful sense of freedom from the female lead as the whole thing wraps up. both these discs are fine - a brief check of 'runa's confession' shows it doesn't look quite so capable of the relative subtleties of at least the opening sequences, and the image looked a bit blocky to me... still, i've not fully watched that one yet.

does anyone have contacts with panorama in HK? they have 'flower and snake' (konuma's 74 original) scheduled for hk, so wondering if they're going to be putting out a whole load of subbed discs there.
